Wilderness Trauma Care provides training on how to appropriately manage injuries when transport to the nearest treatment facility will take hours or days, due to being in remote rural locations, wilderness areas, or even urban areas during a disaster situation.
This 8-hour course is great for hikers, climbers, and outdoor enthusiasts, as well as Search & Rescue crews, Firefighters, and EMS personnel. Participants will learn assessment techniques and treatments for shock, hemorrhage, sprains, fractures, insect and animal bites, and more.
Current certification at or above the level of Basic First Aid is a prerequisite. If you are not currently First Aid certified, please contact us; we will soon be offering an online/hybrid First Aid class.
Successful completion of this class will earn an 8-hour basic Wilderness First Aid certification.
Successful completion of this class and Wilderness Medical Care will earn a 16-hour standard Wilderness First Aid certification.
This course has been approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Health for 7 hours of continuing education credit for all EMS providers.
