Wilderness Trauma Care provides training on how to appropriately manage injuries when transport to the nearest treatment facility will take hours or days, due to being in remote rural locations, wilderness areas, or even urban areas during a disaster situation.
This 8-hour course is great for hikers, climbers, and outdoor enthusiasts, as well as Search & Rescue crews, Firefighters, and EMS personnel. Participants will learn assessment techniques and treatments for shock, hemorrhage, sprains, fractures, insect and animal bites, and more.
Current certification at or above the level of Basic First Aid is a prerequisite. If you are not currently First Aid certified, please register for the First Aid class being held March 23rd.
Successful completion of Wilderness Trauma Care will earn an 8-hour basic Wilderness First Aid certification.
Successful completion of Wilderness Trauma Care and Wilderness Medical Care will earn a 16-hour standard Wilderness First Aid certification.
This class is approved for 7 EMS Con-Ed hours.
