Wilderness Medical Care provides information on how to recognize and treat illness when medical care is an hour away or more, such as when in remote rural or wilderness locations and even in urban areas during a natural disaster.
This 8-hour course is great for hikers, climbers, and outdoor enthusiasts, as well as Search & Rescue crews, Firefighters, and EMS personnel. Students will learn to assess a patient as well as recognize and treat altitude illness, shock, heat illness, hypothermia, anaphylaxis, infection, and more.
Students who successfully complete this course will earn an 8-hour Wilderness First Aid certification. Students who successfully complete this course and the Wilderness Trauma Care course will earn a 16-hour Wilderness First Aid certification.
Standard First Aid is a prerequisite. If you are not currently First Aid certified, please view our schedule for upcoming courses.
